What is the best Insect Glaive? ›

Catastrophe's Weapon is the ultimate insect glaive. It has the highest base damage of any elemental insect glaive. This glaive comes from the Nergigante Monster, and like any weapon from Nergigante, it is extremely versatile due to its incredibly high blue sharpness level and high base damage.

The strength of your Kinsect will naturally depend on the weapon you have equipped and what level they can upgrade your Kinsect to. Based on raw power however, we'd recommend the Monarch Alucanid, which is a severing assist Kinsect type, a Dual Color Attack bonus.

Kinsect is a special equipment in Monster Hunter World (MHW) that players choosing to use the Insect Glaive can wield. It gives the user bonuses such as more damage, faster movement and better defense. Kinsects also have their own attacks and damage types, that vary from Kinsect to Kinsect.

As the story progresses, and the player kills higher Tier monsters, then the rarity level of the Insect Glaive will go up. This will create a ripple effect that will also unlock more powerful Kinsects for purchase and open up new upgrading options.

Dragon Soul Kinsect

No special crafting of anything required here. Once you beat the Behemoth, the Serious Handler gives you the Dragon Soul Kinsect, an amazing level 12 power, level 11 speed tool for your new Insect Glaive.

Enigma is probably the best glaive because you can craft it easily and it has both Impulse Amplifier and Unstoppable Force. Trials glaive has better stats, but it's harder to get. There's only one rapid-fire and two aggressive non-exotic glaives.

Glaive Beam does more damage and has more Shield penetration. Halberd Beam is much faster. Either would be supported by the Laser Charger II and a Heavy Laser (I haven't been using the latter, but I have enough scrap now to upgrade Weapons to level 8).

Nergigante. With no buffs active, Catastrophe's Light has a theoretical attack of 252. Compare that to Vice's theoretical attack of 222. Vice is fine and all, but Nergigante's glaive easily beats it in terms of damage.

Insect Glaive is just so evasive and is really good at targeting the head. A lot of his most annoying attacks can be dodged through with jumps while hitting his head at the same time. Also, a lot of moves have great forward momentum, making it easy to attack while avoiding ground explosions.

There are 2 types of Kinsects, Severing and Blunt. Severing deals higher damage to parts and can sever tails while Blunt can stun. You can swap freely between any Kinsect of any type at your equipment box. There are four different ways you can send your Kinsect to attack.

Enter the Defender weapon set. Though nothing special in terms of utility or build quality, they're simple and powerful weapons that will easily carry you through low and high rank until you reach Master Rank.

You change your kinsects by equipping the insect glaive. You can't do it otherwise as they will be greyed out. So go into the menu, manage equipment and select the insect glaive. Then you can change between your kinsects.

Just don't try to take any traps, as Behemoth is completely immune to all of them.

While in air, pressing R2 will initiate a Descending Thrust, while L2 will initiate a Mid-Air Claw Attack. You can also Charge Your Kinsect with Slinger Ammo.

Kinsect Charge: Spirit

Use slinger ammo harvested from the field to increase your Kinsect's maximum stamina, while increasing the duration of their extracts.

Kinsect Bonuses. Each Insect Glaive has a Kinsect bonus that will give your Kinsect a variety of effects to improve its performance. The bonuses and their effects are as follows: Sever Boost - Increaes the raw damage of Sever type Kinsects. Blunt Boost - Increases the raw damage of Blunt type Kinsects.
