So I have been on a Pioneer Woman kick and now homegirl has me wanting to bust out my cast iron skillet. So I hit the Pinterest boards to look up some inspirational recipes. My husband is a big deep dish pizza fan so when I saw the recipe I was super excited. Um, one pizza is delicious and two wifey brownie points for making a favorite dish for him! Score for me! The problem I was having is all these recipes had you making your own dough and sauce and these fellers were hungry like now, not at half time!

So here is my version of this oh so good meal! You can totally get creative with your favorite toppings!

Ingredients

Already made Pizza dough (in canned biscuit section)

16oz Jar of Chunky Garden-Tomato, Onion, and Garlic Sauce

One package of Provolone Cheese Slices (8-10slices)

12oz Shredded Mozzarella Cheese (can use blend of Italian Cheese and more than 8oz)

1lb of Ground Hamburger Meat (seasoned to taste)

1 package of Pepperoni Slices

4 tbsp of Butter

1 Clove of minced Garlic (trick below)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Take about 2 tbsp of butter and completely cover inside of skillet with butter. Then open acan of pizza dough and line skillet with dough making sure it goes up the sides half way to create the pizza crust edges. Melt the remaining 2 tbsps of butter with one clove worth of garlic and mix. Use the butter mixture to completely coat pizza crust edges and bottom. You should still have some butter left over. Bake the pizza dough in the skillet for 8 minutes.

While the pizza dough is in the oven, go ahead and brown your hamburger meat. You can season this however you would like. I just used a little salt and garlic pepper. Don’t forget to drain your meat.

When time is up, remove skillet from oven. Take your provolone slices and cover thebottom of the pizza dough in the skillet. Next layer on your sauce. Some people like it saucier then others so really this is to your liking. I used about 8oz. Then layer your pepperonidown. Next top with hamburger meat. Cover completely with shredded cheese. I then added a few pepperonis on top of thecheese. Take remaining garlic butter and brush edges of pizza crust. Place back into the oven for about 10 minutes or until crust is that yummy golden brown. Once I see the crust is golden I turn the boiler on high till cheese starts to bubble and brown. Remove from oven and let stand at least 5 minutes or it will be hell to slice (yes I know from experience)! Slice and serve with aspatula or a cake slicer. This is definitelya pizza you eat with a fork and knife!

This is what I used for my “clove of minced” garlic! Yeah, yeah I’m acheater cheaterpumpkin eater! Hello, I told you I was a lazy cook!

  4. Do what Little Caesars does and after you grease the pan, put corn meal in the pan before the dough. It makes it easier to get out of the pan AND adds a little flavor.

  5. I made this last night and cannot wait to make again! This was so delicious!! I really liked using the spaghetti sauce vs. the normal pizza sauce. It added just enough sweetness to the spice of the pepperoni and hamburger/onion mixture. Being a sauce girl, I spread it on fairly thick. Thank you!!
