I am continually astounded by the dedication and care almost all teachers put into their courses and the community over all. The academics are extremely rigorous and quite challenging but it pushes you to be the best version of yourself. I hope to maintain the friendships I have made throughout my whole life as my classmates and friends are truly wonderful people. Even beyond the unique facilities Brearley has to offer, I will always love 610 as it has felt like my second home for so many years. As a student of color, I feel supported and included by the school’s DEI measures and in my affinity group, especially after adjustments made in the past few years :). To put it simply, Trinity’s academics are unparalleled; I was beyond prepared for the rigorous college I attend. The vast majority of teachers, especially the older ones are noticeably passionate, committed to their students’ education, and genuinely inspiring. My peers are likewise contagiously motivated, friendly, social, and bright. I’ll admit Trinity is incredibly challenging—sometimes mischaracterized as competitive—but it is incredibly rewarding and intellectually enriching. Those of us who did, and survived till graduation, had four memorable years, starting with the realization that (1) we weren't the smartest kid in the class anymore, and (2) this made for easy camaraderie. I went on to three universities and degrees, for which Regis had prepared me well. Spend a day here and you will see a multitude of friendly interactions between students and teachers in the halls (dapping teachers up, to yelling each others’ names and saying hi in the halls) Another aspect I appreciate is this school’s active student body. There are several major student-led events that occur throughout the year, and virtually all students participate it in. FON and S!NG are the major events, and during these times, almost the entirety of the student population comes together to put together the productions. The school is always bustling after school, and most people stay late to participate in clubs, attend FON or S!NG rehearsals, or simply hang out in the halls. Many people are proud and happy to be here, across varied positions, teachers, administrators, staff, counseling etc. A huge school that manages to foster a sense of community! The students are very competitive with themselves, but for the most part very supportive of each other. Any student can find their passion and their people here, but they need to look and be involved. Fosters independence; diverse socioeconomically; many interesting perspectives; academic rigor; incredible resources; excellent facilities. That being said, not for every student; still need to deal with DOE bureaucracy in a big place; a couple of teachers have checked out or can’t teach; mental health is not the best here. I would say I've had a great time honestly though. I won't go into the specifics of my personal experience at BC, but I've made great friends and the culture and vibe is very warm for the most part. Socially, at least by the time you are an upperclassman, students are friendly and welcoming with little drama. But I know people's experiences would vary greatly, I may have been lucky. I'm from another borough and have a long commute to BC. Almost all social life, especially as 9th/10th grader, occurs in Park Slope or neighboring areas, and so do most students. So if you go, be prepared to schlep back and forth a lot if you live far away. You'll make friends probably, there is a good mix of people. Around 80 ppl in my grade, you get to know everyone kind of but still room for new connections even by senior year.Plenty of partying in social life, especially as upperclassmen, but more lowkey than manhattan skls... It is a small school, but for me that has always been a good thing because it means that everyone knows everyone. I know what to expect from teachers, I get to work with the same fellow students throughout the years, and I'm never late to my classes. The classes themselves are challenging and leave a lot of homework, but I've found it a welcome change after my last school. My only complaints are the small amount of funding for clubs and school trips, but I'm not sure if that is because of the school itself or the overall budget cuts happening all over NYC. Besides that, I would say that as a fluent Spanish speaker, I would've liked to have taken Spanish AP this year rather than Junior year and to have taken another college class in place of art. Overall, I have no regrets about haven chosen this school, and would recommend to any 8th grader, but these are just my complaints....
